Aimcon surveys were instructed to produce a measured building survey of this very large luxury apartment on Grosvenor Square, Mayfair. It was spread across two floors and covered 8500sq ft with 8 bedrooms, several reception rooms and an indoor swimming pool. Also included was an external courtyard area and 2 storey mews building at the rear. The property was owned by an international investment company and they wanted to fully refurbish the internals and rebuild the rear mews building into a 7 storey building with 3 storey underground car park.

The architect required detailed, accurate and extensive measured surveys. Due to its location and sensitivity a major emphasis was given to measuring the surrounding buildings in order for the architect to design the new mews building sympathetically to its surroundings.
Due to the size of the site and the amount of surrounding detail required in what was a very built up urban landscape we decided to utilise a laser scanner to measure the majority of the external detail at the rear. This successfully collected the main amount of detail in a rapid cost effective manner but further measurements were required with our total stations both externally and internally where most of the internal rooms were partially measured, this was necessary to ‘brace up’ and attain the accuracy of the floor plans that we deliver. To fill in the gaps of the measurements taken with the total station we used a tape and measure disto to sketch up the floor plans in order to draft them in the office into CAD. The survey was completed on site over a 6 day period with two teams.
The survey was delivered in PDF and DWG formats.
