Aimcon Surveys were commissioned by architects to undertake a measured building survey of this prestigious residential property in London. The property is a terraced house in arguably the most sought after location in the city.

Case Study 3 – Measured Building Survey (Marylebone, London) Marylebone main

It was originally designed by Sir John Nash and is now a grade 1 listed building. The style of architecture is typical of Nash and is called Palladian, it features Doric columns, Pediments and acroterions surmounted by statues and other sculptural ornaments and is rendered in Nash’s classical cream coloured stucco.

Internally the house is five storeys tall with grand and ornate rooms particularly on the ground and first floors. The property also had a two storey mews building at the rear. The house was occupied and in use as a busy family home.

The family wanted to make alterations to their property and thus required detailed and extensive measured survey plans in order for the architect to visualise the alterations they were to design, apply for planning permission and create constructions drawings. Aimcon Surveys carried out the survey work professionally and discreetly over a 3 day period working around the wishes of the family.

The terrace frontage itself was very straight and uniform, however the rest of the building going back was askew and not obvious to the eye. With use of total stations and our robust survey techniques we were able to measure the floor plans and elevations accurately and relative to each other.
